Movie Crunch is reporting that there are plans being made to release another Ghostbusters movie that will reunite the original Ghostbusters cast.

I have the same reservations about this as I did about Harrison Ford in the latest Indiana Jones movie. It takes a lot of skill to reincarnate a film from someone’s childhood and still manage to make it work with its much-aged stars.

The Indy IV movie actually managed to do a pretty decent job of it, all things considered. Ford hasn’t lost his touch, and the inclusion of a younger cohort probably helped to bridge the generation gap.

I guess I’m just worried that some studio executive was watching Indy IV and suddenly thought to herself, “Holy f*ck! We could do this with Ghostbusters! Quick, someone check if Bill, Dan, Ernie and Harold are all still alive! What? No, forget Sigourney – there’s no way she’d get involved. Yes. What? …Rick who?”

Anyway, the script is being co-written by The Office executive producers, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, so maybe there’s hope for it yet. Time will tell.
