Stalking Venus

I have been bad. I can hardly believe it, but I left the Radio Broker in-game radio station station (hosted by Juliette Lewis) off my original Grand Theft Auto IV review.

While I listen to the other stations when playing the game, Broker is without a doubt, my favourite. In fact, I’ll be really honest and say - quite truthfully - that I hadn’t heard anything exactly like this sort of music prior to Radio Broker and GTA IV, and frankly, I’m now hooked.

This will seem incredible to people that have been listening to these sorts of tunes and bands for ages already, but I don’t even know what to call this genre of music. Ironic? Indie? I don’t really know. It’s like someone took punk, threw in some Violent Femmes, mixed in a dash of The Pixies, peppered it with My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, maybe a dash of… what? Velvet Underground maybe?… and then stirred it all up with dance beats, modern synths, effects and distortions. It blows my mind.
