Twisted
My last experience along those lines was the “two girls, one cup” video. (DON’T Google this phrase: if you haven’t already seen it, you don’t want to, trust me!) Anyway…
My new jaw-dropper was my discovery today via BoingBoing that there is a whole culture of people who do balloon twisting (as in ‘magician making balloon dogs at kids parties’) for adult entertainment purposes.
This comes to light in a new documentary called Twisted - A balloonamentary by Naomi Greenfield and Sarah Taksler.
As the New York Times (the New York Times!!) reports, the documentary explores the growing rift between so-called ‘gospel twisters’ and ‘adult twisters’.
Gospel twisters use their latex rubber arts to explore Biblical characters and teach Bible lessons to kids, whereas the ‘adult twisters’ on the other hand, use their latex rubber creations to explore each other in interestingly and not altogether appropriate ways. I just have to pause here to say:
Aaaaa-SqueeekaSqueeekaSqueeee! Aaaaa-SqueeekaSqueekSquee!!
The NY Times goes on to quote Ralph Dewey of Deer Park, Texas - one of the more prominent Bibleooners:
There’s just too much unclean stuff in [the documentary]. I refused to see the movie when it first played.
Mind boggling.
Anyway, here’s the documentary trailer. If you’re expecting anything lewd and lascivious, I’m afraid you’ll have to go and see the full length feature. This is all cute and cuddly, although it may engender uncontrolled feelings of pathos for the creatures that make this their lives:
