Improv Everywhere hits the big league
Improv Everywhere is a fantastic New York based group that stages very public events with as many people as they can raise. They created a worldwide phenomenon by getting several hundred people to suddenly ‘freeze’ in the middle of Grand Central station. Nobody else knew what was going on, so pedestrians wandered around, looking amazed.
In their latest stunt, they collaborated with a little league baseball commissioner to turn a kids little baseball match into what appeared to be a major national media event.
They roped in NBC, sprinkled the stands with fake fans, set up a giant television screen like they have in the major league games, and even had the Goodyear Blimp fly over the field with electronic messages for the teams, displayed on it’s scrolling display!
The kids were gobsmacked, and the parents couldn’t believe their eyes. Improv Everywhere doesn’t ever say who they are or what they’re doing when they’re on a mission, so nobody knew what was going down except the baseball commissioner.
